Quick answer summary

- Cheaper per plate — ₹450–₹800 for a single-cuisine vegetarian spread

- Food loses temperature after 20 minutes
- Queues build at one long line
- Best for lunch events under 100 guests
What we would actually serve
Pune humidity, venue timings and mixed guest lists shape this menu more than any trend. Fried food loses crunch outdoors in twenty minutes, cream needs cold holding, and open flame needs written permission at most banquet halls and societies.
So we build around three things: one counter guests will photograph, one section elders will recognise instantly, and a dessert run that keeps people in the room at the end.
| Guests | Live counters | Service staff | Setup time | Typical dishes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 2 | 5-6 | 3 hrs | 12-14 |
| 250 | 3-4 | 10-12 | 4 hrs | 16-18 |
| 500 | 5-6 | 20-24 | 5 hrs | 18-22 |
| 1,000+ | 8+ | 40+ | 6 hrs | 22-30 |
Our working planning grid. Counter count matters more than dish count — one live counter per 75 guests, and each one clears 75-100 guests per hour per counter.
A satvik and fasting menu that works at scale
Satvik cooking is fresh, same-day food without onion or garlic, without fermented ingredients, and without anything left over from the day before. Root vegetables are allowed — this is the line people most often confuse with Jain, where they are not.
Fasting food (upvas, vrat) is a stricter list again: no grain, no lentils, no common salt. It runs on sendha namak (rock salt), samak rice, rajgira, kuttu and singhara flour, sabudana, peanut, potato, fruit and dairy.
- Fasting: Sabudana khichdi with peanut, potato and green chilli, cooked in sendha namak
- Fasting: Sabudana vada with fresh coriander chutney
- Fasting: Rajgira thalipeeth and kuttu puri
- Fasting: Samak rice khichdi
- Fasting: Vrat-style aloo sabzi, no onion or garlic
- Fasting: Farali pattice and sweet potato chaat
- Fasting: Makhana kheer and singhara atta halwa
- Satvik mains: Paneer in tomato and cashew gravy, no onion or garlic
- Satvik mains: Dal fry tempered with asafoetida and cumin
- Satvik mains: Puri bhaji, khichdi kadhi, jeera rice
- Satvik mains: Seasonal shaak with fresh coriander and coconut
- Prasad and sweets: Panchamrit, sheera, besan laddu, puran poli, basundi

What this kind of event typically costs in Pune
Per-plate pricing is driven by four things: the number of dishes, the number of live counters, the service style (buffet, plated or passed) and the guest count. Venue distance beyond Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad or Lonavala adds a logistics line, and premium proteins or imported cheese move the number up.
These are the bands we quote inside the Pune belt — ₹450–₹2,200 per plate end to end — and they are the same bands quoted on every other page of this site. GST is added on the invoice and is not included in the figures below.
- Simple vegetarian buffet, single cuisine: ₹450–₹800 per plate — Pooja lunches, satvik and Jain thali service, office vegetarian menus
- Mixed veg and non-veg buffet, two live counters: ₹900–₹1,400 per plate — House parties, birthdays, smaller receptions
- Wedding or reception spread, five to eight counters: ₹1,400–₹2,200 per plate — Full wedding service with dessert bar and paan counter
- Grazing table styling: ₹18,000–₹65,000 — Quoted per station by length and produce, not per plate — the one booking we take under 100 guests
- Corporate daily lunch contracts: lower per head than event catering, billed monthly with GST invoicing

What the rate covers, and what it does not
Every figure on this page comes from one price list, so the band quoted here is the band quoted on every other page of this site.
| What you are booking | Per plate | Typical of |
|---|---|---|
| Simple vegetarian buffet, single cuisine | ₹450–₹800 | Pooja lunches, satvik and Jain thali service, office vegetarian menus |
| Mixed veg and non-veg buffet, two live counters | ₹900–₹1,400 | House parties, birthdays, smaller receptions |
| Wedding or reception spread, five to eight counters | ₹1,400–₹2,200 | Full wedding service with dessert bar and paan counter |
One live counter per 75 guests is the planning rule behind these bands, and each counter clears 75-100 guests per hour per counter. Distance beyond Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad or Lonavala adds a travel line.
| Guests | 500 |
| Service style | Simple vegetarian buffet, single cuisine |
| Per-plate band for that style | ₹450–₹800 |
| Food, staff and equipment at the lower end | 500 × ₹450 = ₹2,25,000 |
| Food, staff and equipment at the upper end | 500 × ₹800 = ₹4,00,000 |
| GST | Added on the invoice at the applicable rate. Not included in the figures above. |
| What you actually compare quotes on | ₹450–₹800 per plate, before GST |

Satvik, fasting and no-onion-no-garlic rules
Satvik means cooked fresh on the day, without onion, garlic or fermented ingredients, and without reheating yesterday's food. Unlike a Jain menu, root vegetables including potato are permitted — the two get conflated constantly, and getting it wrong in either direction spoils the meal for the guests it was meant for.
For fasting days the list narrows again. No grain, no lentils, no common salt: only sendha namak, samak rice, rajgira, kuttu and singhara flours, sabudana, peanut, potato, fruit and dairy. Navratri, Ekadashi, Sankashti and Mahashivratri all get their own version, and the family's own practice decides which.
Prasad and bhog are cooked separately again, before anything else is prepared, in vessels kept only for that purpose, and are never tasted by the kitchen during cooking. Cooks working the satvik line do not handle the onion-garlic line on the same shift.
- No onion, garlic or asafoetida-free shortcuts — hing and ginger do the work of the aromatics
- Root vegetables permitted, unlike Jain — potato is fine on a satvik menu
- No fermented items: no idli or dosa batter left overnight, no yeast bread, no vinegar
- Fasting menus use sendha namak only, with samak, rajgira, kuttu, singhara and sabudana
- Prasad and bhog cooked first, in dedicated vessels, untasted during cooking
- Separate counter, separate service spoons, separate stewards from the main buffet

Logistics, timings and venue rules across the Pune belt
Pune venues are strict about load-in windows, lift access, gas cylinders and open-flame counters. We survey the venue before the event, confirm what the society or hotel allows, and design the counter layout around it.
Pimpri-Chinchwad is a good example. Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi and the Hinjewadi-Wakad IT corridor are covered daily by a dedicated PCMC kitchen crew, with live counters set up on site at township clubhouses, lawns and corporate campuses for weddings and large events.
Our standard run is four hours on site before service for buffets and six hours for a full wedding spread, with service staff at one steward per 25 guests for buffets and one steward per 12 guests for plated service. Everything is cleared and the space handed back clean before the team leaves.
- Venue recce and counter layout plan before the event date
- Live counters where open flame is permitted; induction and pre-seared alternatives where it is not
- Separate vegetarian, Jain and satvik lines with dedicated utensils
- FSSAI-compliant kitchen, temperature logs and covered transport
- Full clearance, waste removal and venue handover after service

How to book, and how far ahead
Peak dates need six to ten weeks: October to February weddings and the Diwali corporate season. Everything else is usually comfortable at two to three weeks, and we do take short-notice bookings when the kitchen has capacity.
The sequence is simple: share date, venue and guest count; we send a written per-plate quote the same day; we arrange a tasting for confirmed enquiries; you finalise the menu and spice levels after tasting; we do a venue recce and lock the counter plan.
- Call or WhatsApp +91 96731 98867 with date, venue and headcount
- Written per-plate quote the same day
- Tasting session before you pay in full
- Venue recce and counter layout confirmation
