What we would serve
Pune's humidity, traffic and venue restrictions shape menus more than any trend does. Anything fried loses its crunch in twenty minutes outdoors, anything cream-based needs cold holding, and anything grilled needs permission for open flame.

A halal menu for a Pune dawat
The menu below is built around slow-cooked Awadhi and Hyderabadi technique, which is what most Pune families want for Eid, walima and aqiqah functions. Every meat item comes from a halal supplier and nothing on the site's menu contains pork in any form.
The vegetarian side of the spread is unaffected and is cooked on its own line, so mixed guest lists are straightforward.
- Kebabs: Chicken seekh and galouti from the live tandoor
- Kebabs: Murgh malai tikka and mutton shami kebab
- Mains: Mutton nihari and murgh korma
- Mains: Haleem, slow-cooked overnight
- Mains: Rogan josh and baghara baingan
- Rice and breads: Mutton dum biryani sealed and opened at the counter
- Rice and breads: Sheermal, ulte tawe ka paratha, roomali roti
- Vegetarian line: Paneer pasanda, veg biryani, dal
- Desserts: Sheer khurma, phirni, shahi tukda
- Desserts: Kulfi falooda counter

How halal is actually handled in the kitchen
Halal is a sourcing and handling question before it is a menu question. Meat comes from a halal-certified supplier and we keep the certificate for the consignment on file for the event, so you can see it rather than take our word for it. No pork or pork derivative is used anywhere in our kitchen.
No alcohol goes into any preparation on a halal menu — no wine in a reduction, no mirin or cooking sake in a pan-Asian dish, no rum in a dessert or a soaked cake. Desserts avoid non-halal gelatin and animal rennet; agar and vegetarian rennet are used instead.
Knives, boards, vessels, the tandoor skewers and the transport crates for the halal line are kept separate from anything else, and stewards are briefed not to move service spoons between counters. During Ramzan we plan the timeline around iftar rather than the programme.
- Halal-certified meat supply, with the certificate for the consignment held on file for your event
- No pork or pork derivative anywhere in the kitchen
- No alcohol in marinades, gravies, reductions or desserts
- No non-halal gelatin or animal rennet — agar and vegetarian rennet instead
- Separate knives, boards, vessels, skewers and transport crates
- Iftar-timed service during Ramzan; vegetarian line cooked separately as usual

Logistics, timings and venue rules across the Pune belt
Pune venues are strict about load-in windows, lift access, gas cylinders and open-flame counters. We survey the venue before the event, confirm what the society or hotel allows, and design the counter layout around it.
Pimpri-Chinchwad is a good example. Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi and the Hinjewadi-Wakad IT corridor are covered daily by a dedicated PCMC kitchen crew, with live counters set up on site at township clubhouses, lawns and corporate campuses for weddings and large events.
Our standard run is four hours on site before service for buffets and six hours for a full wedding spread, with service staff at one steward per 25 guests for buffets and one steward per 12 guests for plated service. Everything is cleared and the space handed back clean before the team leaves.
- Venue recce and counter layout plan before the event date
- Live counters where open flame is permitted; induction and pre-seared alternatives where it is not
- Separate vegetarian, Jain and satvik lines with dedicated utensils
- FSSAI-compliant kitchen, temperature logs and covered transport
- Full clearance, waste removal and venue handover after service
Who is answering this question
Welcome Caterers is a multi-cuisine catering company operating across the Pune Metropolitan Region — Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Hadapsar-Kharadi, the Lonavala-Khandala belt and Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar. The kitchen cooks more than 25 cuisines, runs live counters and grazing tables at the venue, and caters events from 100-guest celebrations to 50,000-guest weddings and corporate functions, with a grazing table the one booking taken under 100 guests.
Everything below is written from our own operating experience in Kalyani Nagar, Shivajinagar, Erandwane, Pashan and the rest of the Pune belt, not from generic industry copy. If you want this applied to your own date and guest count, call +91 96731 98867 and we will send a written per-plate quote the same day.
How to book, and how far ahead
Peak dates need six to ten weeks: October to February weddings and the Diwali corporate season. Everything else is usually comfortable at two to three weeks, and we do take short-notice bookings when the kitchen has capacity.
The sequence is simple: share date, venue and guest count; we send a written per-plate quote the same day; we arrange a tasting for confirmed enquiries; you finalise the menu and spice levels after tasting; we do a venue recce and lock the counter plan.
- Call or WhatsApp +91 96731 98867 with date, venue and headcount
- Written per-plate quote the same day
- Tasting session before you pay in full
- Venue recce and counter layout confirmation
- Setup, live service and full clearance on the day
- Short-notice bookings taken when the kitchen has capacity
